Why Pacific 2019?
Pacific is organised and conducted by Maritime Australia with the support from the Royal Australian Navy, Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority, the Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group, the Defence Science and Technology Group, the Department of Industry, Innovation and Science, the Department of Infrastructure and Regional Development and the Government of New South Wales.
Pacific 2019 will continue the event’s expansion with increased focus on the commercial maritime sector as well as naval defence. The RAN will invite Navy Chiefs and senior Navy leaders from around the world to attend. In the order of 35 countries are expected to participate. With the support of other Australian Government agencies and a range of civil industry stakeholders, invitations are also being extended to international leaders in defence equipment acquisition and materiel, marine transport, security, environmental affairs, cargo handling, port services and maritime technology across the globe, with particular emphasis on the Asian and Indo-Pacific regions.
In 2017, the event attracted a record 546 participating exhibiting companies, represented from 53 nations. Over three days of Pacific 2017, trade-day attendances totalled 16,765 and the event hosted 18 associated conferences, symposia and forums. South Australian industry feedback was overwhelmingly positive on the benefits of Pacific 2017.
In 2019, Pacific will again attract numerous senior commercial, military and government delegations from around the world, and, particularly from Australia and the Indo-Asia-Pacific region. The 2017 event attracted 79 official delegations and military missions, many at Chief of Navy level.
Pacific 2019 will provide delegates, exhibitors, participants and visitors with a unique opportunity to meet with their peers, potential suppliers and customers. Issues and proposals will be discussed, ideas and information exchanges, contacts made and networks developed.
Defence SA is coordinating South Australian participation through
- Defence State exhibition stand (17mx12m) including local industry, education and association participants and capability/product displays
- VIP attendance including the Premier of South Australia (TBC) and relevant Defence SA Advisory Board members
- Ancillary events and networking
