Wine Australia will be leading the Australian wine sector to visit the United States of America (USA) in September 2019 for the inaugural Aussie Wine Month.
The campaign will bring a large contingent of Australian wineries across the globe for the largest Australian wine promotion ever held in the USA.
Far from Ordinary, will feature a six-city trade roadshow, educational seminars, the Australian Women in Wine Awards, media events, importer/distributor networking opportunities, in-store and online retail promotions and a multi-sensory immersive consumer activation in New York.
The six cities to be visited include New York, Miami, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Lake Tahoe.
Media investment and amplification across digital and social platforms will commence leading up to Far from Ordinary: Aussie Wine Month to increase awareness and excitement for the program of activities.
Events include the following:
- Far from Ordinary – Consumer activation (17-19 September)
- US Roadshow (19 September-3 October)
- Australian Women in Wine Awards (17 September)
- New to Market Showcase (18 September)
- Australia Decanted (6-10 October)

Australian wineries exporting to the US or interested in exporting to the USA.

What’s not included?
Delegates airfares, accommodation, meals outside of official activities, or registration fees.
Attendees registered via an expression of interest to participate in the six- city trade roadshow and the New to Market Showcase.
Participation in the Australian Women in Wine Awards is via nomination.

The Department for Trade, Tourism and Investment is working with Wine Australia to provide a webinar and support South Australian producers in a major online retail promotion in the US with Wine.com.
Wine Australia is offering an exclusive opportunity to wineries and importers for a webinar with Wine.com.
Wine.com Founder Michael Osborn will provide South Australian winery and importer executives with a business update and provide an inside look at the recent Wine.com performance and growth strategy.
This will include insights into its growth segments, customer profile and industry opportunities and Wine.com Senior Buyer Wendy Stanford will explain the company’s consumer value proposition in key areas of its selection, guidance, convenience & value.
Who Should attend?
- Wineries who are already selling wine in the United States and have items located on Wine.com
- Wineries who are already selling in the United States but have limited representation and would like to grow their business by learning how to sell on Wine.com
- Wineries who do not have but are currently seeking representation in the US
- Smaller importers who would like to expand their reach within the online market by working with Wine.com
Operating under the Three-Tier Ecommerce (3TE) business model – as a licensed retailer, Wine.com source Australian wine from local wholesalers in multiple states, carrying inventory, and conducting their own pick/pack/ship operations and delivering to the end-consumer.
For wines to be considered in their assortment, brands must be represented by licensed wholesalers who keep local stocking inventory and are capable of delivery to Wine.com centers at least weekly to satisfy its demand.
